Living the dream, day 2!

OK, so it's after 9:30 and I'm just now drinking my breakfast.  First of all, I slept in until 7:30, which is amazing.  The only reason I could bear to be in bed that long is that I'm NOT IN PAIN, which is almost too good to be true.  Like I don't even want to believe it.  Sure, yeah, I have pain at the incision, but not the nerve pain that's been killing me for so long, since December of last year really acutely, but since early in 2011 when the nagging, intermittent first signs of the problem began.  Amazing.

Did you notice I said I was drinking my breakfast?  I feel so great this morning and just had a hankering to bust out the blender and make some liquid breakies.  Out I went to the garden to collect fresh kale from Bed #2, added some romaine lettuce, a squeezed Meyer lemon from my ma-in-law's place, half a cucumber I found in the fridge, coconut water and some frozen berries, and voila, delicious liquid breakies.  In this time that I've been injured, so really beginning sometime last year when I started to lay off my practice trying to heal the nagging pain I was experiencing, I gained a LOT of weight.  During this recovery leave,

I am focused on recovering myself in every possible way,

including shedding some of that excess that I put on.  It's not a punishment.  This juice is delish.  Only prob is that the berries turned it an unphotogenic color, otherwise you'd be seeing its image right here right now.  Delicious but not pretty.

And because I'm home, I can hear the squirrels chattering in the pine tree above the kitchen and scampering across the roof, making far more noise than you'd expect tiny creatures to make.  And because I'm home, out come the binoculars so i can ID three unexpected birds in the neighbor's tree, birds I've never spied before, band-tailed pigeons.  My real camera's dead, so this image lifted from the Cornell Ornithology Lab will have to do:

Amazing, right?  So pretty and there are three of 'em, fatties, just hanging out over there, high in the tree, in the sun.

It really is a dream to be here, such a good sweet dream, hanging at my own house, taking in the wonders that we've made possible here, bees flying in and out of poppies we planted last fall, harvesting kale planted a few months ago, just stunned and grateful for all this goodness.

And grateful, too, to Rebecca who stopped by yesterday with a load of books, and honey and pasta and cookies and her delicious Honey and Meyer Lemon Elixir (omfg, sooo tasty), and Trixie too who brought by dinner of pasta bolognese and to our great neighbors Cathi and David for the flowers and the gift card to Sol Food, oh dear what a treat.

To think I'm sitting here feeling GREAT, feeling so much better than I have in at least a year.  This is really livin', people, and I'm enjoying every moment.

Big love all around!

XOXOXOX
