not-Fargo: heading to BlogHer14

Truth: as I head off to my very first BlogHer conference ever, after six years of writing this blog, I'm also seriously considering shutting it down.

Funny, right?

I'm packing up my travel essentials -- coffee, loaded kindle, and cords -- and thinking about what might be next for The Force Expansive. About why.

And not just because I'm giving in to those voices in my head, the ones that say, Why bother? What's the point? No, they can shut up.

Also not just because I'd rather shut it down than have to go hang out with hundreds of Mommy bloggers. Nope, that's not it at all (although I did have this whole thought-chain today while hiking about how if I slipped off the trail this morning and broke my arm, then sure, I'd lose the cost of the conference and the hotel room, but then I could just stay home).

When I reminded my husband that I'd be gone this weekend and mentioned that I'd actually be staying at a hotel in San Jose (which is 1 1/2 hours from here), he was surprised. He just assumed I was headed to Fargo.

I wish! If only every conference could be in Fargo (#ilovefargo)...

The decision to overnight, even though I could drive to and fro every day, is because I really want to have as much of the full experience as I can, without the inevitable interruption that the home re-adjustment entails. And plus all that driving is silly.

I'm hoping this total immersion in the BlogHer environment, the mixers (urg) and parties and sessions like Blog Monetization and The Visual Web, will help me gain some clarity on what to do next.

Because, honestly: I have no idea.

It's kind of an interesting, maybe-fun place to be: feels wide-open with possibility. Maybe nothing needs to change. Maybe something. Maybe everything. Like I said, no idea!

Stay tuned for news.

XO
