Country Mouse Monday: the answer is infinity

So let's just say, hypothetically, that you were to ask, "How many photos can person possibly take of poppies and bees, bees and poppies?"  Based on the evidence, I can only say:

The answer is infinity.

At least that's the answer my phone would give, my phone with 1,700+ pictures on it (no exagerration), 50% dogs, the rest poppies and bees.

There's no end to what you can see when you look, no end to the dazzle that surrounds us.

There's always something new, something unexpected.

Yesterday, I swept out into the garden at around 8am.  We'd been gone all day the day before and I was craving long hours of quiet doing, simple being among the other lifeforms.

Fresh poppies had opened in Bed 1, and as I approached I could see there was a madness of busy in them, not just one bee or two, but eights and tens, rolling, teeming.

I'd never seen anything like it.

Within hours the bees had taken every bit of pollen, the stamen broken in the well of the blossom.  Its purpose fulfilled, the flower loosed its petals.

I imagine that the nectar flow from the big blackberry patch at the corner is winding down, so the workers re-directed their gathering closer to home, hitting the poppies hard at first light and carrying all that food back to the hive.  There are more buds set to open this morning, so the show will go on, at least for today.

I never tire of it. Never. It's the most remarkable thing, to witness what's happening around us, how it changes from day to day, moment to moment.

I wish I could just stay here every single day, but instead I watch when I can, take pictures, treasure, share.  It just never gets old.

Infinity, infinity, infinity.
