The New American Road Trip Mixtape: give-away!

Comment on this post for a chance to win a copy of The New American Road Trip Mixtape!

One of my favorite things to do in the wee hours of the morning is to scroll through Facebook or Twitter and see what wonders my friends have shared since I last checked.

I don't read anything right away -- I just click and click, opening up browser-tabs until I've got a good stash. Then, when I've got about 6 windows open, 6 items ready to read, I take my time reading each one, and in this way, rock-hop around, taking in random info, getting inspired.

I never know where exactly I'm headed. I just go.

This is probably how I met Brendan Leonard of Semi-Rad, which I think happened because a beekeeping-friend shared something he'd written. Thanks, Abi!

I love Brendan’s ethos as expressed in the tagline of the site, “The relentless pursuit of the everyman’s (and every woman’s) adventure.” It's a great combo of awesome and accessible.  And as a person whose radness has scaled way-back over time, I’m always happy to sport my very own beloved Happily Semi-Rad t-shirt.

We’re pretty different, Brendan and I – I’m old, Brendan’s not; I’m relatively sedentary, Brendan climbs shit that makes my palms sweat just to think about; I’m a devoted Country Mouse, dug deep into my plot of land, Brendan’s a nomad – but we have this much in common:

We both write.

And I love what Brendan writes.

Even if you’re not a mountaineer or a climber, still the stories grab you in that way that great stories, a great voice, can grab you, hook you with humor, take you on an adventure, kick your inspiration up a notch or three. Some of my favorite stories on the blog include Staying Young is the New Growing Old, Believe in the Magic of Burritos, Everything is Epic. Plus, who doesn’t love a good climbing accident or inspiring mountaineering story, not to mention handmade charts on great subjects like Pooping in the outdoors or macaroni & cheese.

I'm so stoked that Brendan has a brand-new book out, that with his help, I'm giving one away, woo hoo, along with a bonus Semi-Rad sticker than I just happen to have.

Start your 2014 with some inspiration. Maybe it'll make you want to get in your car and go be in some of the most beautiful spots in the country. Maybe it'll make you reminisce about backpacking trips, or climbing, or a beloved mixtape. Maybe it'll inspire you to write your own book or just encourage you to explore more from the safety of your desktop, reading voices you might not otherwise hear. If nothing else, you'll be entertained by Brendan's stories.

And for FREE. ;>

For a chance to win, Comment below. You could also Like The Force Expansive's Facebook page and/or follow on Twitter -- heck, more clicks, more chances!  Winner to be announced on 1/25/14, prize to ship shortly thereafter.

Thanks, y'all!

This looks awesome!
It's right up my alley.
It's so neat how writers connect no matter how they live or what their subject matter - it's our art. You're not that old, btw.
Thanks for the giveaway!

This book looks awesome - isn't that how everyone feels after a break-up? I've never heard of it, thanks for the intro!

This sounds like a fun read!

I'm a sucker for road trip stories! I would love to win this. And I love how hard it can be to remember exactly how I met an Internet friend because it always seems like I've known them since the beginning of the Internet. LOL

Sounds like I may be more like you but lived more like Brendan in my younger days! Looks like this book is going to make my reading list...one way or another!
