this day does not suck

It's Day #1 of my work-away-from-home experiment, and let me just say:

This RULES.

It's Saturday, so really, it's not a work day, but I feel like I am having a regular kind of Saturday, except in a place far from my regular.

Crazily, I slept pretty much all night last night, after being awake forEVER, something like 32 hours, for reals, and woke up to delicious coffee and even tastier conversation with my sister and brother-in-law, hanging out in their living room. Then we cruised out to a sweet organic market nearby, and from there, my sister and I went to a two-hour Guerilla Yogi Paris practice at the American Church led by Anne Vandewalle.

Which was awesome.

I mean, seriously, seriously awesome.

From there, we changed quickly, picked up a bottle of water and some sandwiches and had a little picnic on the banks of the Seine. Yes, the Seine. I've been here before. I've been here a lot, you might even say. But it never gets old. Never. Absolutely gorgeous here. And now we've been hanging out at home, drinking coffee and talking, as a big thunderstorm rolls in, each of us on a laptop. Working.

So let's talk about yoga for a second.

Today's theme was desire.

As in, you and I, each of us, is an expression of desire. At the most basic level, the desire of our parents for each other (awwwwwww), and at a bigger level, that of consciousness itself to take form as us. Woaaaaaah, right? But it's true. Anne invited us to consider this question in meditation this morning, paraphrasing Sally Kempton

What do you want when you want what you want?

Sitting there cross-legged, each time Anne asked What's behind that thing you want? How do you feel when you get what you want? And what's behind that? Follow your desire back to its source and what do you find?, all I could find was JOY, deep, deep, abiding, jump-around, open-ze-roof JOY.

And what do I want? I want this, this life that I made, this life that I get to live in with people I love in places I love doing things I love.

So yeah, this day does not suck. Every day should be like this. Every day IS like this.

What do YOU want when you want what you want? Go out and get it! #makeyourlife
